Mechanisms That Controls Breathing
Some mechanisms that control breathing are exercise, conscious control, and and emotions. Exercise affect the breathing rate because when you exercise you increase the body temperature that causes an increase in the rate of breathing. Your emotions can also control your rate or breathing. For example, when you watch a scary movie the moment when someone is running after someone else to kill them gives you a gasp. That gasp is the extra inhalation of air into your body or when your scared you begin to breath more quickly. Your conscious also affect your breathing rate because, when you sing, swallow, or even go for a swim. You control the amount of intake of oxygen you need in order to perform the task. Like swimming, you would hold your breathe longer and breathe in deeper to supply your body enough oxygen for the body. This causes your body to respond to it by telling it to breathe more, therefore an increase in breathing rate.
